Robert (Bob) Joseph Pelletier
Robert (Bob) Joseph Pelletier, of Palm Coast, Florida, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the age of 88. He was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Ernest J. Pelletier and Bernadette Beliveau Pelletier on November 14, 1921.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Muriel Agnes Barney Pelletier; three sons, Richard John, Raymon Allen, Vincent Gerald; daughter, Diane Marie; and six grandchildren, Dawn, Danielle, David, Nicole, Michael, and Andrea.
He lived in Newark, New Jersey for 18 years and graduated from St. Benedict's High School. He left his employment at Weston Electrical Instrument Corp., Newark, New Jersey, as a diamond die wire drawer, to enlist in the Army-Air Force on September 23, 1942. T. Sgt. Robert J. Pelletier was a World War II veteran who flew 50 missions over enemy targets as a radio operator gunner on an A. A. F. B-17 Flying Fortress. A participant in a February 25, 1944 Allied raid on Regensburg, Germany, he was later awarded the Air Medal with nine Oak-Leaf Clusters.
After returning to civilian life, Bob married his long-time sweetheart, Muriel Agnes Barney in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada on May 17, 1947. He had a long career with Singer-Kearfott as a quality assurance inspector, while continuing his passion for amateur radio in his spare time, as a ham-radio operator, in New Jersey as K2KJP, and later in Palm Coast, Florida with the handle N4KZD.
He lived most of his adult life in Clifton, New Jersey, retiring to Palm Coast about 25 years ago. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church for many years. We celebrate his life, his love, his warmth, his kindness, and his wonderful sense of humor.
His burial service will be held at St. Mary of Korona Cemetery on Wednesday July 21, 2010, at 10:00 am. In early August, a Memorial Mass will be held for him at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church.
