Daniel M. (Danny) Smigielski
January 17, 1934 - April 7, 2022
Daniel (Danny) Martin Smigielski transitioned from this life on April 7, 2022.
Danny was the son of Flagler County pioneers, Rose (Croscinski) and Stanislauss (Stanley) Smigielski who came to Bulow area approximately 1919. He was born in Bulow, baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in February 1934. He served as an altar boy there from age 9. He remained active in the community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and later in life took vows in the Carmelite order, known in religion as Brother Elijah.
Danny was self-taught and played piano, guitar, Hawaiian steel guitar and the harmonica. He enjoyed bowling in his younger days, having a perfect ‘300’ score in league play. He also served his community as a volunteer fire fighter. He retired from Hudson Tool & Die of Ormond Beach, FL.
His first wife, Louise (Adams) passed in 1993. His second wife, Virginia (Watson) passed in 2016. His brother, Rudolph (Rudy) passed in 2018 and his stepson, Sam Sawyer passed in 2019.
He is survived by his nieces, Veronica Lauver of Titusville, Florida, Catherine Smigielski of Rockledge, Florida, and Joanne Kibbey of Niota, Tennessee; along with his nephew and god-son, Mark Anthony (Tony) Smigielski of Bunnell, Florida; stepdaughters, Barbara Maloney of Bunnell, Florida and Susan Levine of Palm Coast, Florida; and a cousin, Carol Jean Tibbs of Bunnell, Florida.
Most who knew Danny, appreciated his warm, friendly, positive disposition. He was a man of few words, but spoke out when needed. He rarely complained and took life in stride. He was appreciative of all that God gave him. His presence here was a gift to us all. He surely will be missed by all those who loved him.
The family of Mr. Smigielski entrusted his arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.
