Walter J, Szawlowski, 65 year­ old poultry farmer of Korona, died shortly after being hit in his pickup truck by a Florida East Coast Railway train at a street crossing here Tuesday at noon. . The train hit the truck broad­side, knocking it up in the air and onto the right of way about 80 feet from where it was struck. The truck was demolished. Mr. Szawlowski was taken to the local hospital but died shortly after arrival there.

The truck was crossing the tracks from Bay St. to Railroad St., a block north of the railway station.

Mr. Szawlowski came to Flagler County several years ago and has been engaged in the poultry business in Korona. He had been making local delivery of eggs when the accident happened.

The body was placed in charge of Craig Funeral Home of St. Augustine which is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Korona, and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery there.

Survivors besides his wife Mary of Korona are three step­daughters, Mrs. Joseph Ren, Sniderville, Mich.; Mrs. Edward Kowala, Utica, Mich.; Mrs. John Paciorek, Detroit; and one step­son, Henry Loszewski, Detroit. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren.

Pallbearers are: John Czyzycki, Mieczylaw Kowanski, Jack Jaszczak, John Szarama, John Kozak, Jerry Slovak, and Anthony Kloski.
