Vincent J. Ursone Jr. Notice


VINCENT J. URSONE, JR., 90, passed peacefully of natural causes on December 14, 2010 at the All Saints Catholic Nursing Home in Jacksonville, Fla. with his wife of 64 years, Eleanor and his daughter, Barbara at his side.

Vincent was born to Italian parents, Vincenzo Ursone, Sr. and Adelaide Sementini Ursone on April 23, 1920 in Stamford.

He attended St. John's School and graduated from Stamford High School in 1938. He later earned a B.S. degree from Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y. and later a master’s degree in Criminal Justice. Vincent served on the Stamford Police force for more than 25 years and was promoted to Captain in 1970.

After retiring in 1974, he taught criminal justice at Norwalk Community College. Vincent resided in Stamford for 64 years and then moved to Trumbull for 17 years, followed by a move to Allison Park, Pa. to join his family until moving to Florida in January of 2010.

Vincent loved antique and classic cars and any and all things Italian. He was a member of the Stamford Knights of Columbus, an usher at St. Cecilia's church and a member of the Italian Center.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and companion all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his parents, his twin sister Theresa, and his brothers Frank and Louis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor; daughters, Barbara and Lynn; grandchildren, Allegra, Noelle, Holly, Kristen, Jennifer, and Andrew; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass was officiated by Father Victor Navivelil at Sacred Heart Church in Jacksonville, Fla. on December 16, 2010 and a graveside blessing was given by Father Alberto Esposito of Santa Maria Del Mar of Flagler Beach at Vincent's Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Korona, Fla. on December 28, 2010.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army or Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
